Saint Seraphim of Vyritsa (Russia)

In Viritsa during the war a young woman got pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. She did not reveal her decision to her husband and was waiting for the right time that she could have the abortion. She visited Father Seraphim and he said to her: “Imagine what happens in today’s world. Mothers who resemble Herod in their harshness and inhumane feelings slaughter their own innocent children." The woman understood that the Elder was speaking about her and that he knew everything that was in her heart. She knelt in front of the elder and in tears confessed her wrongful intensions. When the child was born, it was a little girl and Elder Seraphim chose the name for the child and he also chose the godparents.
